Masari fires education commissioner who called for teachers to undergo aptitude test

Katsina state Governor Aminu Masari has sacked the state commissioner of education, Professor Halimatu Sa'adiya Idris with immediate effect, after her recent call for the state’s teachers to under an aptitude test.

Her statement has caused serious tension and apprehension in the state with many calling for her ousting.
Masari in a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media, Abdu Labaran Malumfashi, Masari said taking into account the fact that political activities leading to elections would commence early next year, "it has become necessary for  the government to bring more active politicians on board so as to fasten activities of governance".
Daily Trust gathered that  her sack might not be unconnected to her recent statement calling for aptitude test for the state teachers. 
It can be recalled that already the  Special Adviser on Higher Education Badamasi Lawal has been screened and cleared by the state house of assembly on Wednesday. 
He is yet to be sworn in and assigned a ministry.
