2027 Elections: NDC Raises Alarm Over Alleged Sale of Fake Nomination Forms in Enugu

The Nigeria Democratic Congress has raised the alarm over the alleged circulation and sale of fake nomination forms in Enugu State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Friday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, accused one John Paul Anih of impersonation and carrying out unauthorised activities in the state under the name of the party.

According to the statement, Anih has been falsely presenting himself as the Enugu State chairman of the NDC despite lacking any official recognition from the party’s national leadership.

The party clarified that Ibuchukwu Obeta remains the authentic and legally recognised chairman of the NDC in Enugu State.

The NDC further alleged that Anih organised what it described as a “kangaroo state congress” through which he allegedly installed himself as chairman of the party in the state.

The statement also accused him of approaching a court in Enugu in an attempt to obtain judicial recognition as the party’s chairman.

According to the party, Anih allegedly forged and reproduced copies of the NDC’s expression of interest forms, which were then sold to unsuspecting political aspirants ahead of the elections.

“The NDC hereby warns unsuspecting members of the public that Mr. John Paul Anih does not represent the NDC in any category whatsoever, and whoever transacts any business with him on behalf of the NDC does so at his/her own risk,” the statement read.

The party also accused Anih of setting up an unauthorised screening committee for aspirants seeking election into the Enugu State House of Assembly.

The NDC maintained that its national leadership had already inaugurated the official screening committee for the state.

According to the statement, the committee comprises Sylvester O. Nwankwo, Ifeanyi Emmanuel Agbom and Ngene Helen Funmilola.

“Any other person outside of the above mentioned, purporting to be a member of the Enugu State House of Assembly aspirants screening Committee is a fraud and should be treated as such,” the statement added.

The development comes amid growing political activities and internal party preparations across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections.
