INEC Sets August 18, 2025 for Nationwide Voter Registration Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced it will launch its nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise starting August 18, 2025, in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

Registration Schedule & Format

  • Online Pre-Registration is set to begin on August 18, 2025, via INEC’s dedicated portal

  • In-Person Registration will follow a week later, starting August 25, at registration centers across all states and the Federal Capital Territory

  • The exercise will run on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Who Should Register?

  • First-time voters

  • Individuals who have moved to a new location

  • Those whose Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) are lost, damaged, or require replacement 

Strategic Partnerships & Voter Education Initiatives

INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu reaffirmed the commission’s collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to deepen voter education and civic participation ahead of both the Anambra State governorship election on November 8, 2025, and the 2027 general elections.
INEC is also leveraging its newly formed AI division to support voter mobilisation and targeted outreach via media, civil society groups, and political parties ,
