ADC Will Shine the Light on Nigeria; APC Won’t Know What Hit Them — Kenneth Okonkwo Declares

Abuja, Nigeria Veteran actor-turned-politician Kenneth Okonkwo has expressed confidence in the growing momentum of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stating that the opposition coalition is poised to disrupt the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking at a strategy meeting in Abuja, Okonkwo positioned the ADC as a “party of light,” whose primary focus “is about the welfare of Nigerians,” rather than a typical power-seeking entity

“When you shine light in darkness, darkness disappears. APC will not understand what hits them,” he boldly declared, predicting the APC’s imminent downfall

A Platform Rooted in Service

Highlighting Article 3 of the ADC’s constitution, which commits to pursuing national welfare, Okonkwo emphasized that the party’s approach is centered on creating an inclusive environment for Nigerians to thrive

“This party is not about power. This party is about the welfare of Nigerians. If there is no new arrangement ... I will stay in my house and pray,” he added.

Opposition Coalition Over Party Identity

Responding to concerns about ADC’s open-door stance to former APC and PDP members, Okonkwo defended the party’s decision to embrace seasoned political figures:

“Your best teacher is your last mistake,” he said, signaling that experience—even from past adversaries—can be used for positive change.

Additionally, Okonkwo reassured that the ADC will rigorously prevent infiltration:

“When you are in a battle … we will search out any infiltrator and give him the treatment that is given to spies,” effectively sealing off internal threats.

A Warning to the APC

Okonkwo did not mince words about the ruling party’s future:

“Before long, APC people will be in hiding because the shame that will come upon them, they will not even be able to talk and speak to Nigerians again,” a pointed forecast of the APC’s potential collapse.

The Road to 2027

As the 2027 elections approach, ADC is consolidating its position as a credible alternative. By brandishing itself as an agent of national welfare and broad-based inclusion—and with high-profile names like David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola already on board—the party appears confident.

With Okonkwo’s rallying slogan that ADC will “shine the light on Nigeria,” political watchers are now gauging whether the opposition coalition can sustain its momentum and deliver on its promise to reshape Nigeria’s political future.
