ABuja, Nigeria – July 29, 2025

Social media activist and philanthropist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has taken his advocacy beyond the screen with a hands-on project aimed at transforming education infrastructure. In a video shared on his platforms, VDM unveiled the dramatic renovation of a dilapidated public school in an undisclosed location, earning praise for tackling what many see as the government’s responsibility.

From Ruins to Renewal

The clip begins with stark images of the school’s former state: broken furniture, leaking roofs, and unsanitary toilets. The drainage system was clogged, classrooms were nearly unusable, and staff rooms lacked basic amenities. Students had no access to clean water, leaving the learning environment in deplorable condition.

After weeks of work, the school has been completely overhauled. Fresh coats of paint brighten the walls, brand‑new desks and chairs fill the classrooms, and the toilets and drainage system have been rebuilt from scratch. The staff room, once uninhabitable, has been upgraded to a functional workspace for teachers.

VDM Calls Out Government Spending

In his post, VDM used the renovation to send a pointed message to public officials. Without naming names at first, he criticized “lavish government spending on luxury while basic education infrastructure collapses.” He later took a direct jab at FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, referencing the minister’s Rolls‑Royce and the reported ₦30 billion spent on renovating a conference centre.

“Our small team, the ‘ratel,’ did this with a fraction of that cost,” VDM wrote. “We are the fourth arm of the government.”

Appeal for More Schools in Need

VDM also used the opportunity to call for more grassroots action. “If you know schools in this condition, reach out to me,” he said, encouraging followers to identify other institutions requiring urgent intervention. He promised that this project was “only the beginning” of a broader campaign to improve learning environments for Nigerian children.

Public Reactions

The video quickly went viral, with fans flooding the comment section to applaud the initiative. Many mocked government agencies for failing to deliver basic amenities despite massive budgets, while others hailed VDM’s team for proving that impactful change is possible without excessive spending.
