Saraki Reaffirms Loyalty to PDP, Denies ADC Coalition Rumors Ahead of 2027 Elections

Ilorin, Kwara State – July 29, 2025

Former Senate President Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has moved to silence growing speculation about his alleged involvement with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring his unwavering loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Saraki made the remarks during a closed-door meeting with PDP stakeholders at his GRA residence in Ilorin on Tuesday.

“I Have Nothing to Do With ADC” – Saraki

Addressing party faithful, Saraki clarified his position on the rumored coalition talks, stating:

“I don’t have anything to do with the ADC and have not told anybody to join the coalition. I’m here as a democrat whose people have asked to clarify a number of issues about the party.”

The statement comes amid reports of an ADC-led coalition aimed at challenging the dominance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the PDP in the 2027 general elections. Saraki’s dismissal of the rumors signals his focus on consolidating PDP’s base rather than engaging in external alliances.

PDP Kwara Leadership Stands Firm

The meeting also featured the Kwara State PDP Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Mohammed, who echoed Saraki’s stance:

“The PDP is intact in Kwara State. We are not part of any coalition. PDP remains the only opposition party in the country, and we are confident of victory in the next general elections.”

Publicity Secretary Olushola Adewara further urged members to avoid distractions and coalition talks, commending Saraki’s “uncommon leadership” in keeping the party united.

Mobilizing for 2027

Saraki used the occasion to rally party supporters ahead of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, scheduled to begin on August 18, 2025. He urged members to sustain grassroots mobilization, referencing the party’s successful membership revalidation drive earlier in the year.

Political analysts note that Saraki’s proactive push for voter registration mirrors historical patterns of voter surge documented by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during pre-election cycles.

Navigating a Shifting Political Landscape

The political terrain in Kwara has been volatile, with the ADC positioning itself as a “third force” and reportedly poaching members from both APC and PDP, according to a Daily Trust report on July 16, 2025. Despite this, Saraki’s grassroots engagement—bolstered by initiatives like the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation’s “Water Champions” program—underscores his strategic positioning for a PDP resurgence.

A Clear Message

With the PDP state congress and National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting approaching, Saraki’s strong reaffirmation of loyalty sends a clear signal: the PDP remains united and prepared to reclaim its political stronghold in Kwara and beyond.

“Our focus is on unity and victory for the PDP. Together, we will lead Kwara and Nigeria into a prosperous future,” Saraki declared.
