1. Emir of Gusau, Ibrahim Bello

The Emir of Gusau in Zamfara State, Ibrahim Bello, passed away on July 25, 2025, at the age of 71 after a prolonged illness. Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State expressed his condolences, describing the late Emir as a supportive and capable leader who was deeply committed to the betterment of Zamfara State. Ibrahim Bello succeeded his brother, Muhammad Kabiru Danbaba, and was appointed to the exalted stool by former Governor Abdulaziz Yari on March 16, 2015.

2. Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland

Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland, died on July 13, 2025, at the age of 91. His death was confirmed by the Ogun State government in a statement by Governor Dapo Abiodun. Oba Adetona was installed as king on April 2, 1960, making him one of the longest-reigning monarchs in Nigeria. His 65-year reign was marked by unwavering duty, honor, and selfless service to his people. President Bola Tinubu praised his leadership, noting that Adetona's impact extended beyond Ijebu-Ode to the wider Ijebu community, promoting unity and development across the region.

3. Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the Olubadan of Ibadanland

The immediate past Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, passed away in the early hours of July 7, 2025, just two days after his 90th birthday. Born on July 5, 1935, Oba Olakulehin was the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadan. He commenced his primary education at St James Primary School and later taught as a primary school teacher before pursuing vocational studies in printing and artwork at Yaba Technical Institute. Tributes poured in from various quarters, including President Tinubu, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, all of whom acknowledged his significant contributions to Ibadanland and beyond.
