Obasanjo pointed out that the conduct of the last election revealed that the country was even more divided than initially imagined. He implored the incoming government to take urgent steps to find solutions that would appease the youth and promote national harmony. He suggested that the new administration should facilitate the process of national moral rearmament and reconciliation, while finding ways to assuage the grievances of the youth.
The former president stressed the importance of avoiding the repetition of the "sickening and painful show of shame" that characterized the 2023 elections. He stated that it was his personal obligation to continue his relentless service as a "letterman", dedicated to telling the truth as he sees it in order to steer Nigeria towards collective aspirations. These aspirations include building a better society where all Nigerians can achieve their God-given potential.
